Inihayag ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) na sasagutin ng dalawang kumpanya ang plane ticket ng mga overseas Filipino workers (OFW) na halos namumulot na ng makakain sa basura sa Riyadh, sa Saudi Arabia para makauwi na ng Pilipinas.
“On June 6, 2020, the POLO (Philippine Overseas Labor Office) paid the workers another visit through which workers were apprised of the following agreements reached with the employers or the concerned companies: Aero Allied Services agreed to shoulder plane fares of workers who have not finished their contract while Team Time Company committed to purchase plane tickets of those who have finished their contracts,” base sa statement ng ahensiya.
Ayon sa DOLE, ang gagawing ‘repatriation’ sa mga OFW ay depende sa magagamit na mga flight, at sa pagsasa-alang alang sa paghihigpit ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) sa mga ‘incoming flights.’
Una nang nag-viral ang video ang mga OFW sa Riyadh na namumulot na ng mga makakain sa basurahan para lamang malamnan ang nangangalam na siikmura dahil sa labis na pagka-antala ng kanilang ‘food allowance.’
Base sa report ng Labor Attaché Nasser Mustafa ng POLO sa Riyadh, ang reklamo laban sa Team Time Company at Aero Allied Services ay inihain nitong February 2020 ng kanilang mga empleyado dahil sa madalas na pag-antala ng kanilang sweldo, kulang sa pagkain at walang asisteng medikal.
