Reporter ng Reuters, kinastigo ni Roque

Kinastigo ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque ang reporter ng Reuters dahil sa pagtatakda ng ultimatum na isang oras para sumagot sa kanyang istorya patungkol sa ‘Davao Boys’.

Tinawag ng kalihim na ‘bad journalism’ ang ginawa ng reporter dahil nagtakda pa ng deadline na isang oras para sumagot ito sa istoryang hindi niya alam at wala pa siyang detalye.

“She gave me an ultimatum of one hour. I did not meet the ultimatum. And therefore, I would not comment on the story because that’s bad journalism. You don’t write a story and give government a timeline to respond, otherwise, they will go ahead and publish a story. I though that was really foul,” ani Roque.

“That’s bad journalism. She went ahead and published it without my statement and how dare anyone give anyone a deadline to respond, knowing fully well I was about to face the Malacañang Press Corps.,” dagdag pa nito.

Sinabi ng kalihim na susulat siya sa Reuters para ipabatid ang pagiging arogante ng kanilang correspondent dahil bilang tagapagsulong ng press freedom, hindi tama ang ginawa nito.

“So as far as I’m concerned, that’s very bad journalism. I will formally write to Reuters. As an advocate of press freedom, I thought that was really foul,” dagdag pa ni Roque.

Ang Davao Boys ay isang grupo umano ng mga pulis na galing sa Davao na naka-assign sa Quezon City at responsable umano sa pinakamaraming napatay sa kanilang anti-drug operations.
