Hinikayat ng Philippine Red Cross (PRC) ang publiko na maghanda ng 72-hour safety kit bilang preparasyon sa darating na tag-ulan.
Ang paalala ay inisyu ni PRC Chairman Richard Gordon matapos na ipahayag ng Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) na tinatayang 10 bagyo ang tatama sa Pilipinas mula Hunyo hanggang Nobyermbre ngayong taon.
“We urge the public to be more cautious this rainy season. The Philippines sits across the typhoon belt making it prone to powerful storms,” saad ni Gordon.
“We should always be prepared. Everyone should have a 72-hour safety kit which contains food, water, emergency tools, medicines, money and important documents,” dagdag pa niya.
Ipinaalala rin ni Gordon na dapat panatilihin ng publiko ang pagkakaroon ng proper hygiene and sanitation upang maiwasan ang leptospirosis, dengue fever, cholera, sore eyes, diarrhea, ubo at sipon.
“The PRC 143 volunteers in every barangay regularly conducts an evacuation drill to make sure that every person in the community is safe from different calamities they might encounter during the rainy season,” ani Gordon.
“PRC’s warehouses are also well-stocked with food and basic household items in anticipation of relief operations,” dagdag pa niya.
