Ipinagpapatuloy ng defense officials ng Pilipinas at Russia ang nasimulang diyalogo nina Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at Russian President Vladimir Putin sa usapin ng defense and security cooperation.
Kamakailan, nagkausap sa Moscow sina Ambassador Carlos Sorreta at Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin sa Russian Ministry of Defense.
“The meeting between our two Presidents and the subsequent signing of our Defense Cooperation Agreement immediately after served to boost our efforts and have already had concrete results,” ani Sorreta.
“We have already started the process of learning from each other through the exchange of visits, participation in defense fora, and by observing military exercises and competitions,” dagdag pa nito.
Ngayon buwan inaasahan na bibisita sa bansa si Russian Defense Minister Seryey Shoygu at makikibahagi ito sa ASEAN Defense Ministers Plus meeting.
Napag-usapan din nina Sorreta at Fomin ang mga nakabinbing defense at military agreements ng dalawang bansa bilang paghahanda sa itinutulak na defense and security cooperation. (Pinggoy Romero)
