PH Ambassador sa Lebanon, binawian ng buhay kontra COVID-19

Binawian ng buhay dahil komplekasyon dulot ng coronavirus disease ang Philippine Ambassador sa Lebanon ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Sa isang pahayag, ibinahagi ng DFA na pumanaw si Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Bernardita Catalla nitong Huwebes.

“With deep sadness, the Department of Foreign Affairs announces the untimely demise on 2 April 2020, of Ambassador Bernardita Catalla, Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon, from complications arising from COVID-19,” mula sa DFA.

Nagtrabaho si Catalla bilang diplomat ng 27 taon at nagsilbi rin sa Kuala Lumpur at Jakarta.

“Service to the country has been the hallmark of Ambassador Catalla’s distinguished foreign service career,” saad pa sa statement.

Nagsilbi rin itong passport director “where she delivered frontline service to millions of Filipinos,” ayon sa DFA.

Bago ang kanyang serbisyo sa Lebanon, naging consul general rin sa Hong Kong si Catalla “looking over the welfare of hundreds of thousands of overseas Filipinos.”

Nanguna rin si Catalla sa voluntary mass repatriation program ng Philippine Embassy in Beirut mula pa noong December 2019.

“Bernie, as Ambassador Catalla was fondly called, has always lent a helping hand, to her family, friends and colleagues,” sabi pa ng DFA.
