Nabigyan na umano si Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo ng COVID-19 vaccine na hindi pa awtorisado ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at hindi pa puwedeng gamitin sa bansa.
“I was with Congressman Mikey Arroyo last night and he mentioned, what was that? Novavax? They say it’s better because it is supposedly 91 percent [effective]. We have to pledge [an amount] because it is supposedly coming already in June,” sabi ni Cabatuan, Isabela Mayor Charlton Uy sa isang Facebook Live stream, Marso 2.
“To me, that seems better because that’s what Mikey said yesterday … He was already injected with. They were already injected with that,” aniya pa sa ilan pang kawani ng Cabatuan.
Ang Covovax ay dinebelop ng US biotechnology company Novavax, mina-manufacture ng Serum Institute of India, at pinamamahagi sa Pilipinas ng Faberco Life Sciences Inc. at Unilab.
Batay sa paunang resulta ng clinical trial ng Novavax noong Enero, ang Covovax ay 95.6 porsiyentong epektibo laban sa SARS-CoV-2.
Pero itong bakunang ito ay hindi pa inaapruba ng Philippine FDA at hindi pa rin ginagawaran ng emergency use authorization ng ‘Pinas.
