Mga player, coach inalala si Nic Jorge

PINARANGALAN at binigyang pagkilala ng kanyang mga natulungan hindi lamang players kundi pati na mga coach at opisyales ang pumanaw na Best Center founder at president na dati ring secretary general ng Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) at national coach na si Nicanor ‘Nic’ Jorge.

Una na rito ang ilang beses naging PBA Coach of the Year at dating player na si Perry Ronquillo

“Oh no. I belonged to his very first BEST class when there were only about 20 of us. I owe Coach NIc a lot . May he rest in peace,” sabi ni Ronquillo sa pinakabatang naging coach ng University of the Philippines (UP) Maroons na si Jorge na pumanaw Sabado ng umaga sa edad na 78.

Nagpahayag din ng kanilang pakikiramay ang iba pang mga personahe na nakilala at naging parte hindi lamang sa programang ipinatupad ni Jorge kundi pati na rin sa malaking tulong na naiambag nito sa sports na basketball.

“RIP Ninong Nic,” sabi lamang ng dating player at coach ngayon na si Gil Cortez habang isang panalangin ang post ni dating Barangay Ginebra player Joey Loyzaga.

Nagpahayag din ng simpatiya sa pamilya ni Jorge sina Allan Caidic, Patrick Henry Aquino, Eric Reyes, Julie Amos Andy De Guzman, Gerard Francisco at Ralph Emerson Rivera.

“Coach Nic Jorge blazed a trail that others followed to raise the standards of a game Filipinos love so much. Basketball and its practitioners as well as sports in general owe him so much. Rest in peace up there with our Father, coach Nic. You deserve it,” sabi naman ni sports official Alberto A. Ramirez. (Lito Oredo)
