“Even if this “dictator’s day” is limited to a province long associated with the Marcoses, we cannot let it pass. We have learned from the painful lessons of the Marcos dictatorship that truth and democracy don’t die overnight, but through the slow and steady corruption of our collective memory and democratic institutions,” sambit ng Akbayan chair.

“We call on the Senate to block this measure. It must not follow Congress’ folly. There are more pressing issues deserving of its attention. It must not allow itself to be used as a deodorizer of a dead dictator’s atrocious narrative.”

“We do not celebrate dictators. We topple them. We bury them in the dustbin of history. We reserve our holidays for our brave heroes and martyrs, not to the tyrants who oppressed and killed many of our people,” aniya pa.
