Halos 80M katao, nawalan ng trabaho – UN

Nasa isa sa bawat 97 katao sa buong mundo ang walang hanapbuhay dulot ng COVID-19 pandemic.

‘Yan ay base sa Global Trends report ng United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees kung saan nakita na aabot sa halos 80 million ang lubhang apektado ng health crisis.

“This almost 80 million figure – the highest that UNHCR has recorded since these statistics have been systematically collected, is of course a reason for great concern. This is approximately one per cent of the world’s population, we have never reached this very significant percentage”, ayon kay UNHCR High Commissioner Filippo Grandi.

Ayon pa kay Grandi, 85 percent umano mula sa mga mahihirap na bansa ang pinilit na mapaalis sa kanilang mga tinitirhan,

“This continues to be a global issue, an issue for all States, but one that challenges most directly the poorer countries – not the richer countries – in spite of the rhetoric,” aniya pa.

Nasa 79.5 million naman na residente ng ibang bansa ang naghahanap ng kukupkop sa kanila bilang refugee, ilan dito ay mula sa Syria, Venezuela, Afghanistan, South Sudan at Myanmar.

“If crises in these countries were solved, 68 per cent of global forced displacement would be on its way to being solved”, lahad ni Grandi.
