7 p.m. – Meralco vs. Ginebra
“First time around I felt like we were taking in the moment, that being our first time in the finals,” sabi ni Newsome kahapon sa pre-finals media conference sa Sambokojin Restaurant sa loob ng Eastwood, Quezon City.
“I think this time it’s gonna be a little bit different since we know what to expect,” dagdag ng sophomore guard. “We’ve got a whole year to prepare for this, basically. This time around it’s not going to be just about making it to the finals but coming out with a championship.
“I think there’s not better way to do it than to take out the defending champions. I wouldn’t want it any other way. I felt that if we are going to win the championship this year it shouldn’t be from anybody else but the defending champions.”
Iyon mismo ang pinaghahandaan ng Ginebra, ayon kay star guard LA tenorio.
“I’m sure gusto nilang gumanti. They’re very hungry and nagpalakas talaga sila,” ani Tenorio, tukoy ang pagdagdag ng Meralco sa beteranong si Ranidel de Ocampo pang-ayuda sa magandang inilalaro ni Bolts import Allen Durham at ng kanilang guards.
“Nand’yan si Ranidel and then their guards are really playing well. Baser Amer and Newsome are playing well,” wika ni Tenorio.
“Plus, Durham is very hungry,” dagdag pa niya. “I think for him, it’s really why he came back, because of the unfinished business na nangyari sa kanya last year. So it’s going to be a tough matchup. Compared dito sa semifinals, mas mahirap ‘yung against Meralco.” (Clarence Constantino)
