Naiwan ang Warriors sa Toronto 3-1, pagdating ng Game 5 ay sumalang si KD.
Hindi raw siya pinilit. At walang makakapigil sa kanya dahil gusto niyang maglaro.
“I was excited. I was like a kid. I wanted to play,” pahayag ni Durant sa interview ng Hot97 FM radio sa Brooklyn. “It was the Finals. You don’t get the opportunity to try to win three in a row. I was working to get to that point.”
Alam daw niyang marami ang nagsasabi na pini-pressure siya noon ng Warriors.
“They’re probably saying that they (Warriors) could have stopped me from myself – put up a wall and say ‘No, you’re not playing,’” dagdag ni KD.
“But nobody would have stopped me at that point. I was gonna play no matter what. I thought I was gonna go out there and cruise through the game … shit happens.”
Cleared na siyang lumaro noon sa Game 5, may go-signal mula din sa kanyang outside doctor.
Pero ayun nga, inabot ng Achilles tear at natapos ang season. Tinapos din ng Raptors sa anim na laro ang Warriors.
Lumipat na ng Nets si Durant, nagpapagaling sa injury at inaasahang di pa maglalaro sa papasok na season.
