“I think the governors’ assessment and decision are right on point,” ani Cone. “It seems we still have ways to go before we get a chance to play again. We’ll have to first figure out what is the new norman, and how we can get the league back on track.”
Martes nang magpatawag ng online board meeting si chairman Ricky Vargas, dumalo si commissioner Willie Marcial at management committee ng Commissioner’s Office. Present ang lahat ng governors maliban kay Eric Arejola ng NorthPort na nagdadalamhati sa pagkamatay ng lola.
Nagkaisa ang board na igsian na lang ang season dahil extended ang enhanced community quarantine hanggang April 30.
Hindi nga lang masigurado kung kailan magre-resume ang liga. Nakaisang laro lang ang Philippine Cup noong March 8, opening night. Makalipas ang tatlong araw ay kinansela na ang torneo para maiwasan ang paglaganap ng coronavirus disease 2019.
“Whenever games start again, it will be great,” wika ni Dickel. “But ultimately, it has to be safe for everyone. Whatever the PBA decides regarding conference is fine by me.”
Walang kasiguruhan kung tatagal pa ang Luzon-wide lockdown.
“If by April 30 sabihin ng gobyerno, clear na, lift na ‘yung ban sa mass gatherings, start na uli ng practice,” paliwanag ni Marcial. “Kung June puwede na, two conference kami. If tumagal and let’s say August pa puwede mag-practice, baka one conference na lang.”
Ang makalaro lang muli o maituloy ang season ay okay na kay Cone.
“I’ll be extremely happy if we can get in two conferences this year,” aniya. “Just playing again will be like winning a championship for all of us.”
