Walang duda, si Jayson Castro pa rin ang nakaupo sa trono bilang pinakamagaling na point guard sa buong Asya.
Ayon mismo ito sa bagong Gilas Pilipinas head coach na si Tim Cone ng Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings.
Sa unang practice session Lunes ng gabi ng 15-man Natoional pool ni Cone na sasabak sa 30 Southeast Asian Games sa darating na Disyembre, sinabi ni Cone na pinakamagaling na playmaker pa rin ng Asya si Castro, na nagpaubaya sa mga bagong manlalaro sa nagdaang 2019 FIBA World Cup sa China.
“He’s still Asia’s best guard,” kwento ni Cone patun gkol kay Castro.
Aniya, hindi sila nahirapang kumbinsihin ang TNT KaTropa playmaker dahil mahal nito ang paglalaro para sa bandila ng Pilipinas.
“I don’t really think it took any convincing. Jayson loves playing with the National team,” sey pa ni Cone.
“I just felt he maybe, I think he felt that maybe, he felt the young guns need to come in and start taking in his time, taking his place. I think it’s kinda realization for him watching and how much he was missed in that line up and the leadership.”
Sabi pa ni Cone, malaki ang maitutulong ni Castro para maidepensa ng Pilipinas ang gold medal sa SEA Games.
“I think when he was approached again to come in and join us, I think that he’s going to do it. He knows he could contribute. He could be a great help and he could lead this team,” panapos ni Cone.
