Ayon sa Akbayan Partylist, hindi nila kailangan ng “peke at delikadong” papuri ni Armed Forces Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) chief Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr..
Kahapon kasi, sa panayam sa radyo ay tinukoy ni Parlade ang Akbayan bilang “good left group” kumpara sa ibang leftist group na nakikita niyang marahas.
Sabi ni Akbayan Chair Emeritus Etta Rosales, ginaya lang ni Parlade ang pahayag sa Akbayan ni noo’y AFP Chief at ngayo’y National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon noong 2007 para hindi ito managot sa extrajudicial killings ng mga aktibista sa ilalim ng pamumuno ng noo’y Presidente Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
“Thanks, but no thanks. General Parlade’s false praise of my political party will not justify his foolish red-tagging of civilians and government critics. Not at our expense. We don’t need his fake and dangerous compliment,” sambit ni Rosales sa isang press release ngayong araw.
“We will not allow our consistent stand against the atrocities and abuses of non-state actors to be exploited by irresponsible military leaders to threaten and red-tag civilians, much more muzzle the voice of legitimate dissent. Abuse is abuse, whether it is from the NPA (New People’s Army) or the military. Akbayan will not tolerate either,” dagdag niya.
Pinayuhan niya ring “mag-Google-google din minsan” ang heneral dahil inakusahan nito ang Akbayan ng pagiging breakaway faction ng Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
Kahiya-hiya ito, sabi ni Rosales, gayong may multi-billion intelligence fund ang military.
“Despite the military’s multi-billion intel fund, the General’s lack of knowledge about the Philippine left is laughable and disturbing. Akbayan is democratic socialist. It was never communist,” aniya pa.
