Nakatanggap ng mahigpit na babala mula sa Senate impeachment court si House prosecutor at Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon kaugnay ng pagbibigay ng pahayag na lalabag sa sub judice rule.
“Natanggap ho natin yung pagpapasya ng Senate impeachment court sa show cause order laban po sa atin. Ang sabi po ng Senate impeachment court ay nag-issue sila ng stern warning sa atin,” sabi ni Ridon.
“Tinatanggap ho natin ito pong warning na ito at nagpapasalamat tayo sa Senate Impeachment court sa kanila pong graciousness sa bagay po na ito,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.
Nitong Lunes, natanggap ni Ridon ang dalawang-pahinang desisyon ng Senate impeachment court.
“The Court gives due weight to Rep. Ridon’s explanation that he acted in good faith and his recognition that the ultimate determination ultimately belongs to the Senator-Judges. The Court likewise notes Rep. Ridon’s assertion that he understands the distinction between reporting what transpired in the proceedings, explaining procedural developments and commenting on matters that are for the Court’s determination,” sabi sa Order na inilabas ng Senate impeachment court.
Nagbabala rin ang Order kay Ridon kaugnay ng pagkakaiba sa pagitan ng pagpapaalam sa publiko kung ano ang naganap sa mga paglilitis ng korte at pagsasabi sa publiko kung ano ang pinatutunayan ng mga ebidensya o kung bakit sinusuportahan nito ang posisyon ng isang panig
“While an impeachment trial involves matter of public concern and the public is entitled to be informed of its developments, its nature as both a legal and political proceeding demands greater, not lesser, restraint from counsel who are bound by the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability,” sabi pa sa Order.
Nangako si Ridon na ipagpapatuloy niya ang pagpapaliwanag sa publiko sa mga kaganapan sa paglilitis.
“We are committed to exercise greater restraint on the particular details of the impeachment proceedings moving forward, but we will continue on with our work as lead prosecutor for unexplained wealth at doon po sa ating commitment sa publiko na ipapaliwanag po yung pong usapin ng impeachment sa paraan na kanila pong mauunawaan,” dagdag pa ni Ridon.
