“Marami pa kaming nakikitang red flags…So pag tinotal natin ito lahat, this is about 7,107 projects… parang 7,107 islands, pero projects worth about 251 billion pesos,” pahayag ni Gatchalian.

“So in other words, Secretary [Vince Dizon], marami nang reforms, marami nang nalinis, but marami pa ring, I think, nakalusot sa scrutiny,” dagdag niya.

“Hopefully, I’m assuming this is not intentional. I hope. But we’re flagging the department so that the department can clean up and submit to the committee prior to the generation of the committee report. Nagawa na natin ito, Secretary, in the past. Nalinis na rin natin ito. So we’ll work together in cleaning up this list,” dagdag pa niya.

“We need to boost our infrastructure spending, but not at the expense of the reforms we want to be instituted. Every delayed project has an economic cost. And, every anomalous, poorly vetted project costs us even more: it wastes taxpayers’ money, deprives endangered communities of safety, and erodes public trust,” pahayag ni Ejercito sa kanyang opening speech.

“Infrastructure spending has a significant multiplier effect on the economy, creating jobs, improving connectivity, attracting investments and stimulating economic activity,” dagdag niya.

“We acknowledge the reforms that the good Secretary (Vince Dizon) tried instituting…

“The flood control corruption scandal should be treated as a temporary speed bump. We acknowledge the filing of cases in the name of accountability.

“We need to strike a balance for this budget season, give utmost importance to accountability but at the same time the need to accelerate public spending to improve our economic growth,” ani Ejercito. (Dindo Matining)
