Nominado si Midas Marquez bilang susunod na Chief Justice ng Korte Suprema.
Isinagawa ni retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Arturo Brion ang nominasyon, batay sa kanyang liham na ipinadala kay Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo at sa mga miyembro ng Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) noong Setyembre 4.
“I had the privilege of witnessing Associate Justice Marquez’s exemplary work ethic and dedication to public service during my tenure in the Court, particularly while he served as Court Administrator,” ani Brion.
“His invaluable contributions to the Judiciary, especially in improving court operations and providing effective leadership to judges and court personnel, have undoubtedly strengthened the administration of justice,” dagdag pa niya.
Tumatanggap na ang JBC ng mga nominasyon para sa susunod na Chief Justice matapos ang nakatakdang pagreretiro nii Gesmundo sa Nobyembre 6.
Ito na ang ikalawang nominasyon kay Marquez dahil noong Setyembre 1, isinumite rin ng Association of Retired Regional Trial Courts of the Philippines ang nominasyon niya para sa posisyon. (AM)
