Welcome sa Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT) ang malaking kasunduang nakamit ng Pilipinas at European Union (EU) sa Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
“This is very welcome news for Philippine exporters. The EU is a major and high-value market, and an FTA can give our exporters greater market access, more predictable trading conditions, and a stronger platform for expanding Philippine products and services in Europe,” ani PHILEXPORT President Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr.
Binigyang-diin ni Ortiz-Luis na ang susunod na prayoridad ay tiyaking magbibigay ang kasunduan ng makabuluhan at commercially competitive market access, partikular para sa mga produktong Pilipino na may malakas na potensyal sa export market.
Umaasa rin aniya sila na ang pinal na kasunduan ay magbubunga ng mga tunay na oportunidad, lalo na para sa micro, small at medium enterprises.
“We need to help Philippine businesses meet EU standards, strengthen their capacity, and connect them with European buyers and value chains. The agreement should not only open the door—it should enable more Filipino enterprises to walk through,” dagdag niya.
Samantala, sinabi ng PHILEXPORT na makatutulong ang mas malalim na trade relationship sa EU sa pagpapalawak ng export markets ng Pilipinas at pagpapalakas ng posisyon nito sa global value chains sa gitna ng patuloy na trade uncertainties.
Inatasan na ng Pilipinas at EU ang kanilang mga negotiator na tapusin ang natitirang gawain tungo sa pormal na pagtatapos ng negosasyon. (AC)
