“In the golden age of flood control here in the Philippines, the first three years of the Marcos Jr. administration, 2023—2025, a total of P287 billion went to flood control alone,” sabi ni Tinio sa budget deliberation sa plenaryo ng Kamara.
“Every peso borrowed is being paid back—with interest—by our workers, our teachers, our farmers, and ordinary taxpayers. Yet what do they get in return? Flood control projects that collapse, ghost structures, and billions lining the pockets of corrupt contractors and their patrons in government. Meanwhile, budgets for education, health, and housing remain grossly insufficient,” sabi ng solon.
“The massive increase in deficit spending under this administration enabled a massive increase in infrastructure spending—but not the kind that serves the people. We must scrutinize every line item of the 2027 budget to ensure that debt incurred in the name of the Filipino people funds genuine services and development, not corruption,” dagdag ni Tinio.
