Panukalang electronic registration, voting para sa Pinoy abroad pasado na sa Kamara

Aprubado na ng Kamara de Representantes sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang panukalang electronic registration at voting ng mga Pilipino na nasa ibang bansa sa panahon ng eleksyon.

Walang tumutol sa pag-apruba sa panukalang Overseas Electronic Registration and Voting Act (House Bill 10178) na nakatanggap ng 188 boto. Aamyendahan ng panukala ang Overseas Absentee Voting Act of 2003 (Republic Act 9189).

Iginiit ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez ang kahalagahan na makaboto ang mga Pilipino na nasa ibang bansa.

“The bill aims to make voter registration and voting easier and more accessible for Filipinos overseas so that we can ensure the efficient exercise of their constitutional right to suffrage,” sabi ni Romualdez.

“The proposed legislation allows the registration, certification and transfer of registration of overseas voters by mail or by electronic means, including but not limited to web-based portals, and other internet-based technologies,” dagdag pa nito.

Ang pagboto online ay idaragdag sa kasalukuyang opsyon ng mga overseas Filipino na in-person at mail-in voting. (Billy Begas)
