Duterte, Bato hindi type imbitahin sa EJK probe ng Kamara

Hindi interesado ang House Committee on Human Rights na imbitahan sina dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa sa imbestigasyon nito kaugnay ng napaulat na extrajudicial killings (EJK) sa war on drugs campaign ng nakaraang administrasyon.

Sa isang press conference nitong Huwebes, natanong ang chairperson ng komite na si Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante kung iimbitahan sa pagdinig sina Duterte at Dela Rosa, na nagsilbing hepe ng Philippine National Police ng nakaraang administrasyon.

“Hindi na po. I don’t even think that if we invite them that they will be able to attend. Pero iimbitahan po namin iyong talagang nanduon, for example, like Gen. [Oscar] Albayalde – very much involved iyan and perhaps we will also be able to invite the former DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra to shed light on all these things,” sabi ni Abante.

Pumabor naman sa sinabi ni Abante si Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, vice chairperson ng Human Rights committee.

“I think the House really gives primacy to the parliamentary courtesy principle … Sen. Bato is a sitting senator, so we maintain parliamentary courtesy,” sabi ni Adiong.

Sinabi ni Abante na seryosong ikinokonsidera ng komite ang pag-imbita sa pamilya ng mga biktima ng EJK.

“Ngayon, pinag-aaralan po namin kung sino ba talaga ang iimbitahan diyan. For example, like all the victims, pero hindi po lahat ng biktima,” sabi ni Abante. “We’re going to choose especially iyong mga victim, iyong mga magulang ng victims ng mga minors, for example.”

“We’re going to invite the former, for example like the chief of the PNP that was actually involved in this and perhaps the NCRPO Command and others in the Cabinet of the former president,” dagdag pa nito. (Billy Begas)
