‘Pinas will be made the center of the e-vehicle industry

The private sector is interested in partnering with the government to make the Philippines a major player in the e-vehicle industry.

In the meeting of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) Job Sector Groups with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Malacanang, laid out their recommendations on the desired industries to be opened, including the e-vehicle value chain.

PSAC-JSG promised to study the proposal carefully to give the President a better plan.

Seven out of the vehicle’s 18 automotive components are made in the Philippines, and one out of four internal combustion engine specific components is made locally.

The President welcomed PSAC-JSG’s interest in e-vehicle manufacturing but said there is a challenge in using green energy because the electronic vehicle industry is still new in the country.

In the meeting held, new strategies were presented to accelerate the creation of jobs in the country, particularly in the fields of agriculture, information technology and business process management, manufacturing, maritime and automotive sectors.

Among those who met with the President and its economic managers were Sabin M. Aboitiz of Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc., Joey Concepcion III of RFM Corporation, Alfredo Ayala of AC Education Inc, Kevin Tan of Alliance Global Inc., and other big businessman in the country. (Aileen Taliping)
