Self-employed obligadong mag-file ng ITR kahit walang kita – Henares

Inihayag ni dating BIR Commissioner Kim Henares na obligadong mag-file ng income tax return o ITR ang mga self-employed kahit wala silang income.

Ani Henares, kung hindi nagpa-file ng ITR ay may penalty.

“Kung ikaw ay self-employed, hinahanapan ka nu’ng mga return. Whether may income, meron kang mga transaction o wala. Kung hindi ka nagpa-file ng mga return, sasabihin niya may open case ka. May penalty ka, everytime may open case ka, penalty range from 2,000 to 10,000 per return,” lahad ni Henares sa panayam sa “Batas Et Al” ng CNN Philippines.

“So can you just imagine if you don’t file your quarterly that’s already three return in income and if you’re VATable that’s also another three. So kahit wala kang kinita, kailangan mo pa ring mag-file,” dugtong pa niya.

Saad pa niya, “Kung ikaw ay walang kinita at kailangan mong mag-file, gawin mo na lang pumunta — kasi during my time, I rolled out the E-BIR form online. That’s really for people who have no payment return.”

“You go there, you accomplish it and you submit it online. And keep a copy of your – the (…) you submitted, and then BIR will also reply to you email. Keep that email. As your evidence na nagpa-file ka regularly.

“‘Yun ‘yung one major difference ng employed and self-employed. ‘Yung self-employed continue ‘yung obligation mong mag-file ng return whether you have income or not.” (IS)
