Nagbigay na ng ulat at mga rekomendasyon kay Pangulong Fedinand Marcos Jr. ang Department of Transportation (DOTr) kaugnay sa nangyaring technical glitch sa Ninoy Aquino Internnational Airport (NAIA) noong bagong taon na nagresulta sa pagkaparalisa ng operasyon sa loob ng mahigit anim na oras.
Sa Press briefing sa Malacanang, sinabi ni DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista na inilahad na nila sa Pangulo ang mga nangyari noong Janary 1,2023 at inirekomenda ang pagpahusay sa Communications, Navigation and Surveillance Systems for Air Traffic Management (CNS ATM).
Kabilang sa mga inirekomenda ni Bautista sa Pangulo ay ang pag-update sa mga kagamitan ng Air Traffic Management System gaya ng hardware at software maintenance, fallback system at ilagay sa hiwalay na lugar ang CNS ATM.
“The President is very much aware of what happend and he supports our recommendation to implement future requirements necessary for the upgrade, our improvement of the CNS ATM system which includes hardware and software maintenance, hardware replacement, ultimate fallback system for software redundancy and the need for independent CNS ATM in a separate location,” ani Bautista.
Inatasan aniya sila ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. na ipagpatuloy ang maintenance ng lahat ng mga gumaganang kagamitan at magkaroon ng maintenance agreement sa provider ng ginagamit na sistema sa NAIA.
“He also instructed us to continue the maintenance of all existing equipments and at the same time he wants us to fastrack the arrangement for a maintenance agreement with Sumitomo Antales who is the provider of the system,” dagdag ni Bautista.
Tinalakay ng kalihim sa kanyang pulong kay Pangulong Marcos Jr. na hanggat maari ay ipagpatuloy ng Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) ang tuloy-tuloy na maintenance sa sistema, araw-araw, lingguhan o kaya a buwanan, depende sa pangangailangan.
Nais ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. aniya na magkaroon ng permanenteng kasunduan sa suppliers at providers dahil nag-expire na ang maintenance agreement sa Sumitomo Antales noong 2020.
Sinabi ni Bautista na mayroon lamang silang pinaplantsa sa Sumitomo Antales dahil sa claim nito gobyerno at mayroon ding hinahabol ang gobyerno sa kanila kaya inaayos na nila ito sa ngayon.
“Isa sa mga recommendation niya is still enter into an agreement with the supplier and separate the issue of claims which we have already communicated with the supplier even before we met with Sumitomo Antales a few weeks ago. And we suggested that we negotiate for a permanent maintenance agreement pending the settlement of the issues, so yun ang aming mga ginagawa ngayon,” wika ni Bautista. (Aileen Taliping)
