Walang nakikitang balakid ang mga senador sa pag-apruba ng kumpirmasyon ng bagong talagang Defense Seceretary Carlito Galvez Jr. kapag isinalang na ito sa Commission on Appointments (CA).

“The record of Gen / Sec Galvez as a military man is solid. Hence I don’t see any problem with CA confirmation,” sabi ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III sa kanyang text message sa mga reporter.

“The only thing which can be raised against him is related to COVID-19, which is not related to the DND functions,” dagdag niya.

Si Galvez ay dating chief implementer ng vaccination program ng dating administrasyong Duterte sa kasagsagan ng COVID-10 pandemic.

Sabi ni Senador Joseph Victor Ejercito, madaling maaprubahan ang kumpirmasyon ni Galvez sa CA dahil sa magandang serbisyo nito sa gobyerno sa nagdaang administrasyon.

“I would think so kasi si Secretary Galvez has been active—after his stint as head of the peace process, then as chief of staff and then dun sa pandemic and vaccine czar—I don’t think he will have a problem with the Commission on Appointments,” sani Ejercito.

Ganito rin ang sentimiyento ni Senador Jinggoy Estrada kay Galvez na naging chief of staff rin ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)

“I am hoping that Galvez will eventually be nominated for confirmation before the Commission on Appointments to allow him to fully discharge his functions and responsibilities, not just in an acting capacity,” ani Estrada sa isang statement.

Umaasa din Estrada na ngayong si Galvez na ang pinuno ng DND, kaya nitong pag-isahin buong organisasyon ng AFP.

“This move by the President, hopefully, will somehow give a sense of stability insofar as the leadership in the DND and its attached agencies/organizations are concerned,” ani Estrada. (Dindo Matining)
